Question Upgraded from 7200 to 8700 Series ?

I am currently using a 7130e. Prior to the 7130e, I used a 7250, and before that a 7730. I carry a separate cellphone for voice, so I seldom use my Blackberry for voice calls. It is almost exclusively used for email, SMS, and other non-voice applications.

I love everything about the 7130e except the SureType keyboard. When I first got the 7130e, I didn't have much trouble adapting to SureType. However, I frequently find the typical SureType problems, when I review an email or text message before sending. I find myself longing for the original QWERTY keyboard of my prior Blackberries.

I am considering getting the 8703e when Verizon releases it. However, I am concerned about the smaller form factor of the 8700 series. I played with an 8700 at a T-Mobile store, and the keys seem even smaller and closer together than I remember them on my 7250. (I would really like to go back to the form factor of the 7730, but I know those days are gone forever.)

So, my question is for anyone who has gone from a 7200 series to the 8700 series:

How does the smaller-keyed, closer-together keyboard of the 8700 series compare with the 7200s? I know I can test them in the stores, but I would like to hear the experience of someone who has used both devices long term.

    TIA, for any advice.

Thanks, racinrocker. The 8700's keyboard is smaller and more cramped, though. Isn't it?

Yes. In all honesty a 7290 is easier to type on, however the 8700 won't be too hard to get used to. IMHO the 7290 has the best keyboard for typing on.

    Thanks, N8DBB.

My favorite was the 7730. I loved that form factor. However, I would never go back to the slower connection speed, etc.

i have made the switch from a 7250 to the 7130 and now to the 8700 so I'm in the same boat - yes the keys are a little bit more cramped than on my 7250 but it is WORLDS better than the 7130 - if you get it you won't be disappointed
