Lightbulb Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException ERROR HELP!

    Hi,

I tried to install blackberry Messenger but after I download the program I get "Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException error message" and after rebooting my BB I don't see blackberry messenger anywhere on my homepage. Does anyone know what this error message means?

And sorry for the noob question, but where do i go to look at the OS version I have and how would I be able to upgrade to the latest one if I don't have it already? I am running 4.1.03 i beleive, or something like that. THANK you all in advance!

Thats happened to me. Try a hard reset after you delete the app.

To delete bb messenger ( menu-options-advanced options-applications-blackberry messenger, delete) after you delete don't reboot when the bb gives option "select later"

Hard reset( pull battery-hold power for 30 seconds- reinstall battery)
Try to reinstall through your desktop manager.
If you still get the javalang error get back to us.

This happens when you install new applications.

Thumbs up Re: Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException ERROR HELP!

    Hi Everyone,

Thank you all for your quick responses, I did indeed try to download BB messenger and after I download it I get this error message. The message never comes up again after I click ok on the prompt. But I was hoping that I can get bb messenger on my blackberry since I am on BES and would like to pin personal friends instead of going through the emails. I will try the desktop download to see if it works, Thank you all very much!

    Hi,

Tried everything in order the way you said and same error message came up. Does it matter that I am on BES? Could it be that I have too many applications/programs on there already? Thanks for your help!

I need help with this uncaught exception error. I can not access my settings button to even do a wipe. I just keep getting hourglass. I have done hard reset, soft reset, battery out for 1/2 hour even. What else can I do? Any help would greatly be appreciated!
