Thumbs up tomtom one wireless data connection settings

howdy folks... i got a tomtom one not too long ago and ive been scratching some anatomy trying to figure out how to get the darn thing to connect to my tmo 8700g for data services.

i just put the 4.2.1.66 on it and its working great... im using the berry to get wireless through my bluetoothed mac laptop, and i wanted to take advantage of the PLUS services of the tomtom one.

after playing around for hours with the berry and the tomtom, here are the settings they need for data to work (weather, traffic, traffic cameras, instant messaging, buddy location, etc.):

on berry:
options --> advanced --> TCP --> apn to wap.voicestream.com (we already knew this, right?) no username or pee-dub.

on tomtom one:
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Username:
Password:
Dial: *99***1#
Connection string: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com" (case and whitespace sensitive)

for the tomtom, do a manual setup... disregard the 4 tmo options and use auto ip and dns settings.

goodluck, and be amazed! whoa! :-P

Re: tomtom one wireless data connection settings

i know i made it sound complicated, but someone with both devices in front of them, with a bit of experience with each should have no issues...

the most difficult part is how specific the settings are for each carrier... those are just for OS4.2 blackberries on tmo with the tt ONE...

Re: tomtom one wireless data connection settings

the forum wont let me post a link, but go to the forum page, go to 87xx forums, page 2, and look for the thread titled "4.2 software for 8700 finally out!" that thread has a link to download the OS i am talking about.

Re: tomtom one wireless data connection settings

I have tried and failed to get my tomtom one to work with these settings and my Pearl 8100; despite the fact that I can get the pearl to work with my laptop (via bluetooth) ...

weird.

Re: tomtom one wireless data connection settings

On my 8700G, I think I have done all the pre-requisite steps.

I have upgraded the OS to v4.2.1.66, and followed all the set-up instructions both on the TOMTOM ONE and the BB.

The setup fails and says it cannot link the two.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong here? Am I missing something completely obvious?

Thanks,
Anders

Re: tomtom one wireless data connection settings

Hey there,

I have a Tmo Pearl and followed all the instructions down to the commas and quotes. However my TomTom still tells me that its "Unable to setup your wireless data connection". Anything else i'm missing, I added the wap address to the pearl TCP configuration. Any ideas?

I am completely unable to do this with a UK O2 Blackberry too.

Re: tomtom one wireless data connection settings

it seems that version 4.2.x.66 is the only one working with the tomtom at this time... if you can, find that bb os and try it.

Re: tomtom one wireless data connection settings

How do you access that menu on the TomTom? I have a One XL and desperately want to make the date connection work. Thanks.

Re: tomtom one wireless data connection settings

on your One XL, find the icon that is called Setup Phone. from there, you can make the other entries.
