I would like to go back to using my 8700G until RIM releases a 3G device. I am stuck using s P.O.S. Treo 680 my wife thought was a good idea. AT&T wont give me an upgrade until July 2009. The problem is the 8700 keeps shutting off for no apparent reason. I will happily buy a battery, if you guys tell me thats the answer. Upgrading to the latest OS (4.2) had no effect. The unit is unlocked and out of warranty. Here is what I found in the event log:

Check the auto on auto off settings in options>auto on/off make sure there is no set time for it to turn off or on~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

My friend. Do you really think I would have scrolled through the entire event log, without doing the Blackberry 101 stuff? I appreciate the suggestion. And, yes I did all of the rebooting, upgrading, downgrading, memory freeing, etc. The unit powers off randomly. But, each time it is preceded by the commands I copied from the event log.

I need someone to tell me what all the "internal.ribbon..." etc. means, and if I can fix it, if it's the battery, or if I have a brick. Someone here has a friend at RIM who can tell us what this means.
