I had a 7100t last year and the noise cancelling feature of the wired headset included with the phone was great indoors and outdoors (when I remembered to take my headset with me LOL). I had a BT headset but it was junk as John said a few posts earlier. I also have had defective units. I went thru 4 (2 7730's and 2 7100t's in that order; 4 defective, and 1 7100t this year that was sent back in April of this year, due to late delivery after purchasing the 7105t I have now) last year so I know how frustrating that can be.

I love my BB 8700c as well... And what's this about bad sound quality? Mine works excellent. I have never had someone tell me they couldn't hear me or visa versa. I love the sound quality and my speaker phone works GREAT!!! I don't use a headset or BT either, just uyp to my ear, and mostly on my left ear!!
    I L-O-V-E my BB 8700!!!

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~See that's why I think you may have a defective unit jqj, br7ght_eyez has no problems. Just so you know my first 2 8700's were defective and had to be sent back. So it is quite possible you have a bad berry.

perhaps you should have them send you another? i just got my 8700g (tmo) on Monday and it is working quite well. I actually prefer using my bluethooth (i like to walk around while talking) and it has worked like a charm (never worked better, in fact).

Re: Should I keep the 8700 or let it go?

hey, i'm a new bb user too. got my 8700 about a week and a half ago, and the phone quality was awful... my friends said i sounded like r2d2 (and they sounded like something out of the matrix). anyway, a "bb specialist" at tmobile ran a check on the phone, even called my phone to hear it for themselves, and decided i had a defective unit. i've now got a new one and i love it, it's awesome. i do find that if i'm outside in ny with heavy traffic, the right side is better than the left-- and my one experiment with the included headset failed miserably (i couldn't figure it out. pathetic). but other than that, phone quality is great. when i'm indoors, people even think they've lost me when they're talking, because it is so quiet on my end when i'm listening. i think you should have cingular run a check on it.

    Hey jqg,

Hope all is well. I would take it back to Cingular and have them exchange it for you. Give it one chance and see what happens.

    BTW, welcome to pinstack!~

    Hope this helps.

    ROCK ON!~

I have the 8700g, some folks tell me they have trouble hearing me, or there's static sometimes. I never have a problem hearing anyone on the phone though. And when I use my BT headset, I never get complains. Even while driving with the windows down.

hey benmarvin, can you tell me what kind of headset you're using? i'm looking for one, but i've heard horror stories about some models.

I have a 8700g, and to me the sound quality is good. Tested it on speakerphone, earphone and even bluetooth headset. They all sound fine to me.
