To create personalised ringtones (not with (C) music of course) I use Miniringtone from simprit.com You can use CDs or MP3 tracks although the latter don't always work. If you do get it ($12.99 I think) ignore the 120 byte upload limit. With an 8700 you will be fine.

    phidelt270, Welcome to PinStack.

Yes there is a way. It is more trouble than it's worth if you have a data plan. If not, and are willing to put up with a lot of time and process check out the Re: Ring Tones and Pictures without a Data Plan thread. Be sure to keep the backups.

    Hope this helps

If you want to take the time, you can edit your own mp3s; d/l to a danish website and load them on your bb. There are other links on pinstack detailing the procedure...good luck!

Re: ringtones on 8700c, do mp3 clips work?

I have down loaded mp3's to my 8700 using coolservice but they do not work. After it is downloaded, the player comes up but when I click play nothing happens. I can find the file in the ringtone selection but it does not play. I can use this same method loading wav files and it works great. Any idea's why my 8700 isn't reconizing mp3's?

floridadomer, It probably has to do with the Sampling settings or size.

The clips are only about 10 secounds long so I don't think it is size. What are Sampling Settings?

Re: ringtones on 8700c, do mp3 clips work?

Floridadomer, the Sampling settings I'm talking about include Sample Rate, Sample Format, Dither and the MP3 Bit Rate. Also some of the earlier 8700 OS require Mono to play them consistantly. Specifically Ver 4.1.0.194 (Cingular) required Mono.

    Hope this Helps

Thank You Rcbjr!! I will go back and play around with the settings. Does anybody know what are the best settings to use when creating the MP3's?
