Questions from a new Blackberry 8700c user

I just bought a blackberry 8700c. It is unlocked and I am using my old AT and T GSM Sim card.

    I have two questions:

    1. How do I download an internet browser to the phone? None show up on the device.

    and

    2. How do I change the settings in the phone to work on the original AT and T data plan from four years ago?

Any insight that anyone could give would be great,

    Thanks,

    Geoff

You need to have a BlackBerry data plan in order to
    get a browser.

Your ATT data plan from 4 years ago would need to be
    specifically a BB data plan.
At this point your best bet is to call your service provider and
update your plan depending on what your needs are.

Thanks for the welcome, Is there no way to get a browser if I already have a unlimited data plan? There is not private party software I can use to get it working?

    Thanks for the help!

So you have a BB Data plan?
If you already do, then you can log onto your BIS carrier website online
and resend your service books. I don't know who your provider is as it isn't in your profile
You will also need to re-register your host routing table on your device.
    Options>Advanced options>hit menu>Register Now.

Re: Questions from a new Blackberry 8700c user

I am with A.T.&T., I am not on a specific BB data plan so that may be the problem, I am not going to switch to a BB specific plan yet because I am still on the old GSM plan and I am paying far less that I would otherwise. I am just looking for a private party browser I can load onto the phone if there is one, if not I guess I will have to live without it. I am using the old atandt SIM cards

    Thanks for your help,

    Geoff

As I said above, you must have a BlackBerry data plan in order to have an internet browser.
There is no way around it.
A GSM plan is not going to work, sorry.

It would probably be a good idea to go into ATT and update your
SIM card. They shouldn't charge you to swap it to an upated one. They'll switch
over your info for you as well so you won't lose anything.

Yeah I already switched for the updated one, I actually worked for them for a couple years, but I am just now looking to get into the stack!

    Thanks again!

You can use Opera Mini and change your TCP settings.

    Go to: Options/Advanced Options/TCP

    APN: wap.cingular

Username for APN: WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM (all caps)

    Password: CINGULAR1 (all caps)

You will be able to access the internet but, you won't be able to download OTA without the BB Data plan.
