    Question Question on message notification....

When you receive a voicemail, is there a way to disable receiving a message in your messages folder? I am happy just getting the voicemail notification showing the icon on the screen. There must be a way to disable it sending you a message to your inbox everytime theres a voicemail. Its annoying have to go in there and read it/delete it everytime......

    Try this,

    1. Go to the Phone App Menu
    2. Select Options,
    3. Then Call Logging
    4. Check None
    5. Save
    6. Go to the Message App Menu
    7. Select Options
    8. Select General Options
    9. Set Hide Filed Messages
    10. Save

Not sure, but the first five steps may not be necessary. But that is the way I have it set up, And it works.

If you go to the inbox the voice mail nofications show up as SMS messages. Do these count as text messages for billing purposes?
    I am using a 8703e on VZW.

When you choose "Hide Filed Messages" what else does that hide? What exactly is a "filed message" ?

Your Blackberry will auto delete messages after a certain period of time, depending on your settings. If you want a certain message to stay on your phone and be exempt you can save or file that message.
At least that is how I understand it. Someone slap me if I am wrong lol

Any message that is put into another folder. Basically it's everthing that would be in the Folders List that you see when you select View Folders from the Messages App Menu.

    hope this helps

Not sure if thats what I want to do. I just simply dont want voice mails to send a message to the message folder ( inbox ). I still want all my other message notifications of emails, texts, etc. Just not an inbox message for voicemails.

Unless you file the other messages, they will still show up in the Message list. They are not deleted or anything. If you do what I said, you will get what you want. Check it out, if you don't like it then you can always set it backt.

It's the only way to do what you want.

Hey, I did what you said but it still didn't do what I wanted. When someone left a voicemail, it still shot a message into my "inbox" or "messages" folder. I'm trying to avoid that email/text message and just have a regular voice mail icon.

    Re: Question on message notification....

I have the same problem and it drives me crazy. I have the 8703e/Sprint. I went into options under phone and messages, but I still receive the voicemail notification in the messages section. I also receive emails there which I hate. Emails should stay under emails and text/sms messages under messages..Phone information under phone...I hope someone figures it out for the both of us...LOL

    Re: Question on message notification....

tina_twyman, a message is a message is a message. On Blackberry devices, all messages are treated as the same thing. However you can filter the Message List on the type of message. There are some preset filters, which you can see by going to the Message App Menu and select search. Again open the menu and select recall.

This will show a list of the search filters available on your BB for filtering your messages. When in the Message List just press ALT+ the letter of the filter you want.

You can also edit these, and even create your own, with a short cut key assigned to it.

    Hope this helps

    Re: Question on message notification....

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~
Also the Zen theme will give u another icon for SMS thus separating all text messages and voicemail notifications from regular emails. I use this theme and like it mostly for that reason

At least if someone picks up my BB and opens the general mailbox they do not see my SMSes, which I consider more personal. Also the anoying voicemail txt msgs do not appear in the general mailbox

    Hope this helps
