    Re: question how to downgrade

The reason why is I am having a problem where I have had to wipe my blackberry 3 times in the past week just to get online I jave talked to cingular tech support they don't know why one of them said I am running an updated OS on my 8700C that wasn't put out by cingular.

My device won't connect to the internet until after I go into security and wipe it than reregister it on the network. I have tried reregistering on the network before wiping but that is the only way I can get back on the web. I still can make phone calls but

    Re: question how to downgrade

Okay, in order to downgrade your OS this is what you need to do:

Find the OS that you are wanting to downgrade to.

    Download it to your computer.

Run the .exe file and install the OS onto your computer.

Do a search for vendor.xml and delete it.

Or go Start/My Computer/C: Drive/Program Files/Common Files/Research In Motion/App Loader and it should be down in the bottom there.

Now connect your device to the USB.

    Start Desktop Manager.

    Go to Add Applications.

A box will pop up giving you the option of downgrading or keeping the same OS.

Click the downgraded OS and you are on your way.

    Re: question how to downgrade

Just to clarify, when you say you upgraded your 8700 to 4.1, what did you upgrade it from? The original OS on the 8700c was 4.1.0.194, This is the OS that is installed when you download the Package 4.1.0.175

You may have upgraded to a differnt carriers OS 4.1, but it Was 4.1 to start with.

    Re: question how to downgrade

Ok, Have you downloaded the Cingular OS Package for your 8700 and executed it on your PC, Once that's done you Apps Loader should detect that the ready for install OS is different than the one that is installed in your BB. It should ask if you want to downgrade or revert or something like that. Select Yes and continue.
