Thumbs down Problem with SIM card on 8700G

I just got my 8700G from Tmobile today!

I love everything about it, especially the bright screen (I'm retiring the 7290 permanently!)

The only issue that I have encountered so far is my phone number shows up strangely.

    Under Option>Advanced>Sim Card...
My Phone Number shows up as +3105551212, 67324938505 323423483745...
Also, in the Phone Log, where it displays My Number, it also shows up my phone number and a strange string of random numbers.

It doesn't affect performance in any way. I called my home phone, and it shows up fine in caller ID. However, I am fairly annoyed by this, considering a just paid a pretty phone for this awesome thing!

Going back to Option>Advanced>Sim Card, I tried to use Edit Sim Phone Number, and I get an Error Message Uncaught exception:invalid initialValue.

    Help!!!

~~Posted via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~~you are going to have to call T-Mobile and have them send you an ota to fix that then pull that battery out for a reboot. For some reason it is reading the default number programmed into the sim card

Re: Problem with SIM card on 8700G

After a half hour with TMo tech support (who couldn't help me much since it's a new product for them and they weren't familiar), I was transferred to a PDA specialist (who sounded like he was in India) Once again, they couldn't help me since this was the first 8700 that they have to troubleshoot with this problem. After a half hour of basic troubleshooting (Wipe handheld, re-boot, etc.), they transferred directly to RIM to talk to one of their tech specialists.

At this point, I had been on the phone for over an hour, and while on hold to be transferred, I asked one of my co-workers to try his SIM card in my 8700.

Voila! There was absolutely nothing wrong with my Blackberry... it was a defective SIM card.

I put in a new SIM card, called TMo for a SIM swap, and everything is perfect again!
