No one seems to know what 3G really is.

    HERE IS WHAT I [KNOW]

1A.) YES. - It needs to fullfil certain speed requirements.

1B.) YES. - It needs to be able to utilize both voice and DATA at the same time.
(So when I'm on the phone I can still surf the World.Wide.Web.)

YES. - It needs to work on A network that HAS 3G capability.

    THIS IS What I think.
From what -I- have read however "3G" is strictly A grandson of [T]DMA

From what -I- have read "3G" is NOT A forklift upgrade!

Therefor it has NOTHING to do with [C]DMA whatsoever.

You people need to wait for an upgrade that may be deemed "3.5" or even "4" G.
To have any kind of speed differential between current edge speeds.

My definition of A forklift upgrade is SOMEONE actually going out to the cell "SITE" (Not just A tower or repeater or Amplifier) an actual cell "SITE"
    and changing the node completely.

What have I learned from all of this ?

If this 8707v or V7078(><) IS INFACT CDMA(1XRTTB)CDMA2000 or even 1XRTT "A" (Current) then this may be infact my next BlackBerry if I can use the 2 new Themes featured on Mobile.BlackBerry.com for 4.1 enabled devices.

    Regards,
    X

Actually now that I look at this that should be "Great" Grandson. I forget GSM was in there too.

Let me break it down for everybody .

    - If you want the next latest in technology for cellular wait for A couple more "Forklift" upgrades.

    - If your looking for something NOW and this BlackBerry is 1XRTT"B!" this may just be the best BB to DATE!

Also if this IS INFACT 2100MHZ I highly doubt it is [C]DMA 1XRTTAorB or CDMA2000 or otherwise. (800/900"Now" 2100? MHZ)
    Naa I doubt it.

    More like 1800/1900 850 2100 with [T]DMA.

For those of you who don't know this TDMA is more EU based.
And CDMA is early WWII Technology. It had much of A better foundational sound quality.

And I still think sprint has the best sound quality PERRIODE.

Just make sure you can use the full potential of the original ciphering of incoming and outgoing call indicators , the MWI and the 2 Themes at ...

    Mobile.BlackBerry.COM .

    And you should be golden.

Don't forget either some Features/Modes/ and even RADIO bands themselves can be just A firmware version around the corner.

    If it aint broke.....Hack it!

I was thinking about going out and buying an 8700c today. Would I better off just waiting until the 8707 comes out in a few months?

In response to andrebsd. I'm a rogers dealer, and in house tech guy at my store. I'm fully aware of gprs vs edge vs 3G thanks. In the article it didn't list EDGE, it did however list gprs and 3G. That's all I was saying.
And to takeshi, I use my browser a lot. 22MB last month. And EDGE loads most sites faster than my DSL at home, I don't think I need mbps on a BB without some external memory to download large files.
Quite the thread this new BB has created. Hah keep it going!
