they simply dont know how to help so,

    How do I acces G-mail,
    how do I operate browser

at the moment I'm buying a 5MB addition to my o2 account
    every conversation with them though,

    ends with
"It will be useable within 2-24 hours from now
We've altered your settings from here"

rich36, Welcome to PinStack. Until your account is activated you will not be able to even start. but here is where If by access g-mail you mean integrate it with your BB then you will need to set up your BIS account on you carrier's Website. Ask them for the URL, if you don't see an Icon on you BB Home screen called Individual Email Activation.

As to the browser, it should be straight forward. Click on the Icon. Open the menu, and click on GO TO, Type in the URL and select OK. From there it will operate somewhat like any other browser. Play with it and read the browser shortcut section in the Help App on your BB.

    Hope this helps

    er.....

o2 keep saying that all is as it should be at their end,
and that it will be working anytime within next 24 hours,
they've been saying this in one form or another for a couple of days now.

There doesn't appear to be any icon for a browser though,
does that mean they have not yet connected me?

Its a step further than simply a telephone,
    and the
support is laughable which is a shame, since I suspect the device
    can do a lot

I dont understand the concept of integration
can you explain in simple terms please

what Service indication do you see at on the indicator banner of your 8700? Does it say O2, or data connection refused? Do you see an Icon on your BB that has a title Individual Email Activation?

Go to Options/Advanced Options/Host Routing Table and open the Menu. Select Register Now. Now check again for your Ind Email Activation and Internet Browser Icons.

    Hope this help

The icon may also be called "Email Settings" and looks like a planet with an arrow wrapping around it.

    but thats the only change

    now thats been replaced wih
'data connection refused' 10 minutes later

On the off chance, try a cold reboot (Battery Out, wait 15-30, battery back in). When you did the Register Now, did you get an SMS message saying something like Registration? If not your account hasn't been properly set up. Call your provider and ask for the Data Device Customer Service desk. You may have to use your PC to access and set up your BB account with the PIN and IMEI numbers, then do the Register Now feature again.

Sorry this is taking so long.

Had a follow up call from their CS team this evening, to say
something on their system will up-date around midnight tonight ?

He did'ent know about an icon on that particular model, but I should call back on Monday, and talk with data device (so thats right) and they'll be more
    familliar with 8700.

I've already registered my g-mail account on the o2email site,

    hopefully this will be enough.

will a browser icon appear on the screen,

I said to o2 man, that his colleagues, appeared unsure to put it mildly,
and he said they'd had a lot of problems selling these devices,

with very few people trained to help customers with them

    Rich,
I am in the UK also although with T mob who i think seem to know their stuff a lot better esp for BB.For others trying to help I dont believe O2s technical team are customer facing so it is unlikely he will be able to speak to a tech person. The best idea may well be to take the handset into an o2 store and not leave until they sort it for you.It may also be an idea to put your full pin number in your sig as then others can add you and help you via pin.Just a thought and its quite safe not like giving out your phone number

    Re: oh dear another newbie

    Thanks for the info sir,

after a spectacular outburst this morning,
    i got a grown-up manager (Tracey Wright)

and it began working this afternoon.

My E-mail address has its own icon on the screen, to which it connects OK,

    there are Three browser icons;

    internet browser

    o2 UK serverWAP

    o2 UK WAP

All seem rather slow and display little of use

I'd quite like the opera browser, as I use that all the time on the PC

    is it possible
