    need help cleaning memory

I've scanned for previous posts and managed to do the following to clear up some memory space.

ALT+lglg, activated the memory cleaning in the security section (yup I entered a password), erase all messages (email, pins, sms, including sent) by using delete prior, erased all phone logs, erased wap browser cache, erased browser cache, history, pushed content, cookies, erased bbmaps cache, jpegs I no longer want, and am left with this database size list.

    Database Sizes

    Total Size: 24411.9K

    Address Book: 238/27.3K
    Application Permissions: 1/0.0K
    Attachment Data: 0/0.0K
    AutoText: 108/6.5K
    Browser Bookmarks: 219/42.9K
    Browser Channels: 0/0.0K
    Browser Data Cache: 153/17797.4K
    Browser Folders: 12/0.5K
    Browser Messages: 0/0.0K
    Browser Urls: 0/0.0K
    Calendar: 217/46.5K
    Categories: 2/0.1K
    Content Store: 229/5808.5K
    Folders: 0/0.0K
    Memos: 46/45.3K
    Messages: 53/86.6K
    MMS Messages: 0/0.0K
    Phone Call Logs: 0/0.0K
    PIN Messages: 3/8.2K
    RMS Databases: 7/453.7K
    Saved Email Messages: 53/86.6K
    Searches: 6/0.7K
    SMS Messages: 0/0.0K
    Tasks: 1/0.3K
    WAP Push Messages: 0/0.0K

    File free:15244540 Bytes

Content store are my jpegs, and everything is absolutely tiny except for browser cache. 153 items and 17.7+mb! Huge waste of space. I've already erased the cache, history, and cookies.

Any ideas what this could be and if I missed something?

Actually I did that after posting the original post. I did it for 30 seconds and I managed to free another 1mb.

But there still is 16.5mb in that browser data cache.

I suppose if I upgrade to one of the newer OS4.2 that will solve the problem.

15MB free is a ton of space on a BB. I wouldn't fixate on it...

Yup already did the LGLG before the post.

True 15mb is big. But with 16.5mb effectively lost is wasteful.

I might just bite the bullet and upgrade to 4.2vodafone. That will zero the lost mb's but then thatll take up approx 9mb.

Hmmm, maybe yer right takeshi. I may need to get a grip.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~i deleted the languegs(ms) that I didn't need. I do a bat pull everyday, clear call logs, alt lglg, and I have 21mb of free memory. Also have all pics and ringtones on memory card.

Yup I deleted the languages a couple of months ago. And I do manage to do a battery pull once a day. Since every so often a bump into a website that has so much scripting it clogs up the browser.

Sadly my 8700 doesn't have a memory card. If it did I'd have 8gigs to play with.

Eureka I figured what's happening. I think anyway.

So last nite I erased cache. Did battery pull still no change 16.dmb used.

I then started to poke around my bookmarks. I found one I didn't remember and clicked it. I have bad signal at home at times and look what popped up.

Would u like to see an older version of the page because the network was un available.

What?! So it must be keeping an unerasable cache from the addresses I selected as "available offline", which is pretty much what I selected for ALL my bookmarks not knowing what it meant. Yikes, that's why its so huge.

    Well that answers that.

Now to think over whether I want to erase all my bookmarks and re enter them without that setting selected...
