Question My 8700 keeps turning off during calls...

Any ideas? It just started doing it today, both times about 5 minutes into a call, and those calls didn't stay on call log. One time was using BT headset, the other time just the BB.

    Thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem. But mine is also turning off when I try to send an SMS. It won't turn back on unless I pull the battery and plug it into the charger and then put the battery back in. WTF ?

You might have "water" or "moisture" damage to the phone. Open up the case, if you see a red sticker, that's an indicator to BB that the phone suffered some type of damage. This voids the warranty contract. Not sure if you have insurance if you can get another one.

I didn't have insurance and am not up for a upgrade until July. I'm trying to bear with it, but had an emergency the other day, and my phone went out in the middle of a call.

Re: My 8700 keeps turning off during calls...

I've got mine back to 100% now. I took it into the AT&T store Friday and they showed me the little red sticker that indicated water damage. I wondered about that. I called a few electronics places around Little Rock and they all suggested I bring it in for an alcohol bath. The more I thought about it though the more I didn't think it was the phone itself because it was working fine when plugged into the wall charger or sync cable. So I decided to buy another battery. $50 and an overnight charge later its working perfectly. I took it to the casino and used it all weekend without a problem. When I compared the old battery to the new one I can tell that there was some issues with the old battery. Its swollen on the sides. I think the phone got wet before I owned it and started working like that and thats why I got it so cheap on ebay. But $50 for a like new 8700c and $50 for a new battery is still a good deal for a phone I like so much.
