Not good man.. I mean I'm not expert when it comes to broken BB. But I hope you got an insurance for it.. I'm preety sure you still have the warranty. I would give your provider a call and let them know.

And you must have dropped it really hard because I drop mine once in a while and this never happens. HOw did you drop it anyway?

You know what, something might have gotten stuck up the trackwheel...
Because I can use it just fine with the keypad... but when I use the trackwheel the screen turns different colors!!!

It was my niece, I thought she had the dummy display phone in her hand that I've bought her a while back since she loves throwing my phone everywhere...
But it turned out she had the reallll thiiiinggg =(

Re: Messed up 8700G - HELP!

The LCD in the 8700 is plugged into the main board via a small ribbon cable. When dropped if it hits at the right angle or with the right amount of force, it could cause the ribbon cable to shift in the connector. If your unit is out of warranty and you trust yourself enough, it can usually be easily solved by simply dissassembling the unit and unplugging then replugging the LCD back in. If you don't trust yourself but are out of warranty with no insurance, you can probably find a local shop to work on the phone. If not, BBRepairshop out of Houston or Amigo Tek (my shop) out of Fort Worth, TX would be most happy to work on it for you.

But I think the display is fine, like I said, I can turn it on and it will run fine as long as I dont touch the trackwheel.. or shake my phone really hard...

So I think - actually Im really hoping its a loose connection somewhere or anything of that sort!! :-(

Check with Sear's. Craftsman makes a set of small Torx screwdrivers.
