    Lower Case 1xev

Sometimes my BB registers a lower case 1xev instead of the usual upper case 1XEV. I understand in non-broadband areas the lower case 1x would indicate no data coverage, but Ihave no idea what a lower case ev could mean.

Everthing seems to work fine in lower case mode, just wondering what it means. Anybody know?

I notice this when I pull the battery on my 8703e. After the Verify Security screen the signal showsn 1xev and I only show 2 mail icons in Zen theme. Then in about 15 seconds the icons return and it switched to 1XEV. Strange.

Thumbs up Re: Lower Case 1xev

This is the CDMA VZW breakdown:

1x - Make and recieve calls SMS and MMS (lowercase x, no data)
1X - Make and recieve calls, SMS, MMS, email, PIN and browser (UPPERCASE X, data active)

1xev - Make and recieve calls SMS and MMS but in high speed area
1XEV - Make and recieve calls, SMS, MMS, email, PIN and browser but in high speed area

The reason you see the lowercase initially is because it takes a little longer for the data to register than the voice, that is why the email accounts did not show right away.

This information is in the "Application and Indicator" of the Basic Section of the user guide that comes with the BB from Verizon.

Thanks for the info. How doed "high speed area" differ from "broadband area"? I had thought they were the same thing, but I really don't know.
