Is there any way to use Bluetooth DUN with a 8703e?

I have a Verizon 8703e that I use Bluetooth(BT) to sync, but despite all my efforts, I can seem to figure out a way to use BT for DUN. I talked with someone in the last few days who is doing it, but it was a relative of his who set it up...I actually saw it work, so I know he wasn't BSing. ANy suggestion out there will be greatly appreciated!

DUN is Dial Up Network. Basically connecting to the internet on your laptop by using the BB as a modem via bluetooth.

I use mine on my PC laptop but it is tethered, not through Bluetooth...sorry. I'm sure someone will come along that can help you though or point you in the right direction.

Re: Is there any way to use Bluetooth DUN with a 8703e?

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I am using what is supposed to be the latest and greatest (4.1.377). I have read something about BT DUN requiring 4.2, but Verizon claims they do not plan on releasing it due to newer equipment on the market (I.e. 8830). Again, tethering via USB works fine, but trying to use DUN with Bluetooth is what I am seeking...

My Alltel business rep told me yesterday at lunch that Alltel is in the final stages of testing with 4.2 for the 8703 and will probably be releasing it soon.

Verizon has already released the 4.2 OS for the 8703e Get it here:
    http://download.vzwshop.com/vzw/blac...A4.2.1.106.exe

Or navigate through Verizon's site here:
    http://vzw.smithmicro.com/blackberry

(for those of you with CDMA 870x devices that are not on Verizon, just delete the vendor.xml file and then load it up...should work without issues)

Load it up, and give BT DUN a try! I have the new OS and can confirm that the device now reports the DUN bluetooth profile. However I don't have bluetooth on my PC and cannot test it out, although I assume if you use the correct settings for Verizon's network you should be able to connect this way instead of tethering.

Also be aware that the bandwidth available via bluetooth is probably slower than the max EVDO speeds, so you may notice decreased speeds vs. connecting via USB.
