    Google Talk Dead?

I upgraded to 4.2, I think everybody did, and one thing thats pretty pretty annoying, other than the crashing media player is logging out of google talk. Now, when you click on logout, it says
    Uncaught Exception:
MergedCollection modified outside of FolderHierarchies lock.

    Meaning????

An easy bad solution fix is to switch off the radio and it boots you out, close Google Talk and restart the radio and you are out. But, is there another way around this?

I have the newer Chinese one installed... maybe that is the reason why it works for me and not for you.

the other one she is referring is not from China but is English/Chinese language set instead of multilanguage like the Italy one... they are both the same 4.2.1.66

    Re: Google Talk Dead?

This is what I did to fix this, after killing a lot of hours. Now, this error is related to an error in the Google talk address book entry on your Blackberry. When you upgrade, it may conflict and cause thos error. Solution, and a very painful one is either back it up but not include Google talk. Reinstall the device and then download a fresh google talk, or the quick and filthy way is to delete all the contacts stored in google talk, and it will crfash, restart google talk and the device will "fix" itself. Thats what I did.

I tried this (the second, deleting all contacts), but gchat didn't crash, and it just kept giving me the dreaded error message. I really can't reload the OS again, as my company's IT people are already mad that they had to reinstall my messaging services twice due to my tinkering.

    Any other ideas?! This stinks.

    Lightbulb Re: Google Talk Dead?

Hola, Nate here. I have a BB pearl & was getting this error.
After reading this thread & doing a little tinkering, I think this
has something to do with the show conversations in message list.
somehow the BB messages & gtalk are linked, when you turn off gtalk
or the BB, the messages are still looking for the link, thus the hiearchies
    folder error.
To not get the error, set the show conversations in message list option
    in gtalk options to "NO".
Seems to work, hope this helps.
    thanks, Nate
