I can't seem where to find how to turn this off, but when I send an email through the BB using my Gmail account, it always sends me a copy of the message as. However Thunderbird does not download a copy of the message I sent. Anybody have any insight?

When you send an email from your google account from the BB Gmail automatically sends you a copy. You must go into your account (Service Provider) and create a filter to stop it. Create a filter that does not download msgs that have your email address in the to line. However, if you ever need to send an email to your self it won't come to your BB.

Quick fix: You can set a rule or filter on the blackberry account. Log on to your carriers blackberry account.
    a) Select "filters" on the account is doing this
    b) Select "Add Filter"
    c) On the filter name, choose any name you want
    d) On the "Apply filter when" field, select "From" field
    e) On the "contains" field, put your email adress
    f) Select "Do not forward messages to handheld" and click save
