I know im a newer user BUT one thing i still hear from my co-workers is that they want to keep in contact with all there messenger buddies in one chat service. After digging around myself i found about jabber servers and googles plans to make google talk work with AIM YAHOO MSN ICQ and others. Digging further i found you can get this set up for your self but it takes a little skill...
first i want to mention the guys at bigbluball.com GREAT little tutorial found here: www.bigblueball.com/forums/google-talk-news/33739-connect-google-talk-aim-msn-yahoo.html
you will need to have a computer to run the PSI software

Ill try to sum what it takes to get google talk connected to all your buddies:

Download the Following to get started

    1. Download google chat on your BB here: http://www.blackberry.com/GoogleTalk
    2. Download PSI on your computer here (select os from list): http://psi.affinix.com/download
Then you will need to set up PSI to work with your google talk
    follow googles instructions here: http://www.google.com/support/talk/b...y?answer=24074

Now to get google talk working with different chat services:
TIP: use the old server list for servers if find a super reliable server please post on this forum, old server list here
    http://www.jabber.org/network/oldnetwork.shtml
or the new server list here:
    https://www.xmpp.net/servers?page=1
TIP: right now the server that i will use for the tutorial is the jaim.at server ive looked at about 50 different servers teh jaim.at server is the most stable so far and i still loose service 4 out of the 5 work days and have to relog on.
ALSO if anyone has there own jabber server set up and wants to share there server please advice us of your server so we can have reliable service ON TO THE HOW TO:

Lets use AOL Instant Messanger as an example:
(you might want to skip down and set up auto-authorize option first)
    1. OPEN PSI
    2. click on the little "fork looking" symbol in the bottom left
    3. select Service discovery
    4. in the address feild put in JAIM.AT (or any jabber server)
    5. click browse
    6. right click the AIM transport
    7. select registar
    8. enter YOUR aim information
    9. click registar
    10. get prepared for a flooded PSI screen (unless you auto authorize)
Thats it, you can repeat this process for setting up MSN ICQ and yahoo accounts INCLUDING ICQ AND YAHOO chat rooms

HOW TO: AUTO-AUTHORIZE (to keep PSI from getting flooded by messages)
    1. click on "the fork icon"
    2. select the optinos option
    3. select the events settings from the left
    4. check the box for "Auto-authorize contacts"
    5. ALSO uncheck the "Notify when authorization was recived" option
AGAIN this is an quick HOW TO on how to get ALL your messanger buddies in one chat program GOOGLE TALK

any questions jsut ask ALSO blackberry chat with pin at 32B30D69

Thanks for posting this how to. I actually configured this awhile ago and it works pretty well. I'm going to try out the jabber server you suggested. The one I've been using to date is jabber.no.

Does this mean that PSI has to be running & logged in on another pc for me to see my AIM/Yahoo/MSN contacts in Google Talk on my BB?

Actually tried the whole PSI thing for a few days. Very clumsy. JiveTalk much much cleaner and easier to use.

Set up GoogleTalk to run my AIM program. Dug around to find a jabber host, etc.

    Works fine, BUT

The workaround keeps you logged on to AIM 24/7. So you have to log in via PSI. You can't use iChat. Which sucks because iChat is a much better program and has video chat built in.

Going to try Jive Talk, if they'll have me.

Exactly, NJTransit. PSI Route too clumsy. JiveTalk works real smooth.
