OK here's the latest! Called BB and they do not have that information on file and have no further suggestions on how to get it back to the owner except the "contact the provider" answer. As I stated in my previous post I TRIED THAT!!! So here's the deal, if you have lost a 8700v recently in texas post a message and if you know the pin and IMEI# we can make arangements to get it back to you. However I am still going to be researching if I can use the unit myself, due to the fact my phone (POS 101) is just that...POS!

Thank you for everyones input and opinions!

WooHoo!! Looks like you may have yourself a new Blackberry. Way to go ET. And I really don't think you could have done more than you have to get it back to its owner. As far as im concerned, you are the owner now. I just hope you can get it to work without to much trouble.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ Does anyone else wonder about the battery, battery cover, and sim being gone? You don't lose a berry after taking those off. My sim never comes out.

BTW, have you ran the PIN number against the Pinstack Database? Go to Search, Members and you can enter a PIN in there. May be someone who joined a long time ago and hasn't been back in a while.

Not sure if BBF has pin listings or not there (SINCE I AM BANNED!), but you might want to check it out.

melissaox, yes i have wondered that but I found nothing else around the unit. Can you use a sim card out of a BB in any other devices?

This is exactly what you do. Get vodaphones costomer care phone # talk to a representative and ask them if the device was reported stolen,or lost. If the imei # is acknowledged the carrier can look up the blackberry in their data base and determine if the device was reported stolen or lost.only the owner of the device would provide that info to the carrier,if the device showed up on their computers then it can be traced to the owners and the carrier can contact the owners.and make arrangments of returning it back.you scored on a blackberry if their was no report.besides it is a gsm phone all u have to do is either get unlocked or use a compatibal sim chip to use and keep as your personal phone.
