    Question exception ring tones

Recently got Blackberry 8703 and set up personal profile and created exception list with distinctive ringtone. I find that many times, calls from my exception list come in with the normal profile ring not the exception distinctive ring. There is no apparent consistency to which ringtone plays. Everything appears to be set up correctly- am I overlooking something?

    Re: exception ring tones

    Hello shotokanrabb, welcome to pinstack.

I would delete the exception and profile and redo it again, to make sure everything is set up correctly.

Let us know how it goes.

    Re: exception ring tones

I was able to isolate the problem. When my Blackberry is locked, then all calls revert back to the active profile ring. When it is unlocked the exception rings work. Is this the way it has to be or do I need to do something else to have it work properly when locked. I find that I need to lock the phone when carrying it around in my pocket to prevent false calls.
    Thanks.

That's odd. I have an 8700c and its exceptions work properly when locked...

    Re: exception ring tones

I decided to check my security settings and found that my content protection is enabled and I do not have the ability to disable it. I presume that this is a function of my corporate security requirements. Since this prevents me from seeing the callers name in the locked mode, could this be the reason that my exception ringtones don't function when the BB is locked? If so, I guess I'll have to learn to live with the limitation.

    Re: exception ring tones

Yes, this is most likely the cause of your problem. The Blackberry won't decrypt the address book to look up a phone number when locked and content Protection enabled.

    Sorry
