    Email recovery

    Hi everyone,

I've got an 8700 thats been damaged, i'm trying to get just two emails of the damaged one to send onto someone else.

The damaged Berry only has a faulty keyboard, so that's not my problem.

Whats the best way to get hold of these two emails, and get them onto my BB 8300 Curve? Once I've got them onto my device, I can forward them on.

I can only think of backing up the messages from the 8700 then restoring them onto my 8300, but would overwrite all my emails/settings or would it just add the new ones to my list, in which case that would probably be fine?

    Any advise...?

There is a commercial application -- ABC Amber BlackBerry Converter (http://www.processtext.com/abcblackberry.html) -- that should be able to solve your problem. First, backup the data of the damaged device using the Desktop Manager. ABC Amber can parse the data in the .ipd file, allowing you to extract the two e-mail messages in question. A trial version is available on the website (limited functionality).

    Thanks for the tip.

But, the emails have attachments too.

And, although this software is really bloomin good, unless i'm missing, i cant seem to get it to give me the attachment also.

    Any more ideas?

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ Most likely you're out of luck as far as attachments. I don't think that attachments are actually stored on the device long term -- they are loaded into a cache from the server when you open them on the device.

When you open an attachment in an email, the phone must go and get it. I really doubt the attachment is stored with the email message.

    Hi everyone.

So it looks like I'll have to find another way.

    Well, at least we tried!

    Thanks all your help.

    Just a second!!!

    Here's what I can do...

Create a test/admin type user in Domino, activate this user on the Berry in question, then just forward the emails on.

Why didn't I think of that before?!?!

I'll give that a try next week.

    Thanks for inspiring me.
