    Question Dust in USB Port

I cannot seem to locate the thread that I saw over the weekend about dust getting in the USB port and causing issues. Someone mentioned rubber or plastic mini USB covers. I have tried finding them without much success. I found some for regular sized USB ports. Has anyone purchased the mini ones and where can I find them?

    Thanks bunches!!!

I have never had an issue with dust in the usb port. Do you currently work in an area that has lots of dust?

No not really...but others had mentioned an issue. So I thought I would be proactive

Well, I live in west Texas so I know dust! I went to Office Max and CompUSA last night and they didn't have 5-pin USB dust covers. I'll look on-line today (once I set up my notebook and after my 2nd or 3rd cup of coffee!), see what I can find and report back here.

~~Posted via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~~hehheee. Thanks! I searched all day yesterday online without luck. A coworker mentioned the Kodak site since they have devices that have the same mini USB connection. I couldn't locate anything on their site either.

I found dust covers for USB A and B connectors, but nothing for the 5-pin mini-connector. That's interesting!

I emailed sales just to see if anything turns up. Wish me luck!

I heard back from customer support. They have no mini-b dust covers that will work on our BlackBerries. I'll keep my eyes open, but don't have much hope that such a cover will be found.

    Re: Dust in USB Port

Hi... I recently acquired the Blackberry Curve or 8300.. I couldn't figure out for the life of me why they didn't have some kind of plastic or rubber port cover as there is a recess surrounding the usb and headphone jack port.. I work for the postal service and I sweat a lot during my route.. I am actually MORE concerned about moisture getting inside the ports.. I will check out camera supply stores or Best buy.. If anyone has any better ideas, please let me know.. cheers, Will

    Port cover.

I have been using http://www.topicovers.com/search?q=mini+usb for a while now, and they seem to work good. Keeps the dust out, and most of my gadgets are protected by them.
