DM 4.1 Back Up Load Error

Long and short of it really,

Did a Back Up of my 8700g (O2 UK) and then had to do a wipe handheld. Then a few days later had my Blackberry back and tried to do a Restore, but all i managed was to freeze my pc and ended up not having managing to replace anything adn spent all the evening manually inputting everything back on to the BB...

Whilst it didnt bother me, its made me realise i neednt have back anthing up.....

Any ideas on what went wrong or why?

    Regards

    BUMP

Could someone tell me how long a back up is meant to take. Should i see movement straight away or am i meant to wait as long as an OS reload?

    Please please help.

How about if i do a DM 4.2 Upgrade?
Then save a new Back UP?

The time it takes can vary, based on how much information is being backed up. It will be shorter than an OS install if the Backup/restore option is selected during the OS install. If not it may be comparible.
