    Deleting Options

    Hi all.

I've just setup an 8700. It has version: 4.2.176. It's also running from a BES. All other users are fine.

I've set it up so when a user deletes an email it prompts him from where to delete: either from handheld or from handheld and mailbox.

But, when i delete it just says delete or cancel.

I've gone through the whole thing and can't find anything I'm missing.

I've called the company that supplies me with the devices and they say its a faulty BB but I can't belive that's the case.

Can anyone help or is it really a faulty BB?

    Thanks.

    Re: Deleting Options

Have you checked under Messages/Options/Email Reconciliation. He probably has Delete On: set to Prompt.

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Deleting Options

    on the handheld try this:
Messages / Options / Email Reconciliation - check in there for Delete on... I bet it doesn't say Prompt any more
change it for each email account you have setup on the device (it's not a global setting)

    Did I misread the OP?

Are you saying you have it set to. Pronmpt and it doesn't?

    Sorry

    Re: Deleting Options

    Hi guys,

Rcbjr - That's correct. I've already got it set to delete on:Prompt. But it only but it doesn't give the option to delete from handheld or handheld and mailbox.

cliffr39: I did that already and sure enough it says prompt!
The user only has one email account and thats the one attached to th BES.

I'm really stuck with this one. I even deleted him from the BES then recreated him and also wiped the BB too.

Maybe I should pop it in the microwave!! It won't help, but it'll make me feel better!! :-D

    Re: Deleting Options

Thats right, even after Enterprise Activation, the prompt still doesn't appear for handheld or handheld and mailbox.

And now the guy says that when he composes an email, the send option isn't there in the menu.....summat strange is going on with his devise!

    Re: Deleting Options

    I wouldn't microwave it yet,
First try a back-up and restore. I'm pulling from memory here and may be wrong. You may have to reset something on his exchange or outlook settings. Let me look. I'll get back to you but it may be awhile. Got to get on the PC to find it. The Blackberry BTSC site doesn't like the blackberry browser. Got frames

    Re: Deleting Options

Maybe we should go back to the begining - How about reloading the OS on the device? After doing that, going back and re-activating the BB and seeing what happens???

    Re: Deleting Options

Thanks guys, as ever, full of great advise.

I'd really like to reload the Os, but i don't know how to do this.

I've been given a few links that explain how to do this, but when you've never done it before it's a little worrying.

Where do I get the OS from?
How do I put it on the BB?
Is it just a file that O load onto the BB or do I need to install/unzip it to my PC first?
Do I use Device Managervia USB?
Do I need to wipe the BB first?

Any answers you can give me to help me along the way would be great!

    Thanks everyone.

    Re: Deleting Options

You would go to your carriers web site to download the software. Who is your carrier, I will get the link for you...

Basically, you are going to get the file (an executable) and run it on your PC with the BB connected. The executable will take you through the process of installing the new OS. I will PM you with my number in case you run into any problems...
