So, is it worth the money to upgrade? Other than the camera, I'm fairly sure I wouldn't use the other multimedia features. I have an ipod for that stuff.

So, is it faster? etc? And can I tether it to my OS X machine without having to boot to windows to get online?

Also, I have t-mobile, so, how easy (or hard) is it to unlock an AT&T 8300?

it costs 20 bucks to unlock it. at most. its not any faster then the 8700. they both run on the same networks. but the camra is great. specially in those kodak moments that pop up. also there are many more features that arent on the 8700 theres ways to make your own folders for different things. ive had the 8700 and the 8300s call quality is better and less muffled. and you can go on amazon and get the curve for free. if you want to make the switch. but att is more expensive then tmo. i say all around if your going to buy a 8300 unlocked your going to spend 450 bucks. its worth it to wait a few months for tmo to get something new. they will

Yeah, I can't leave T-mo, I have the whole family on there.

That's a judgment call that you have to make. You can compare the two side-by-side ay Blackberry.com. Determine if the added features are worthwhile to you or not. The 8300 is an EDGE device and EDGE isn't any faster than EDGE.

It's exactly the same as unlocking any other BB.

Yeah, unfortunately no 3G. Then again, T-mobile operates at one speed: SLOW. T-Mo is last to get phones, and last in technology.

tmo isnt about marketing... they care about the customer getting a good product, albeit, a bit later than the other impulse carriers, whose customers then suffer when devices suck. we'll get it when its tried and true...
