    New to all this,

First of all thanks very much with earlier questions, been very helpful

    now
What is an average cost PCM for members here,
some of you appear glued to your devices, others less so,
I'm looking forward (with some trepidation) to first bill next month

but knowing I'm opening perhaps Five or so E-mails a day,
and avoiding browsing as previously mentioned, what might my MB-rate be

I'm on o2 talk 200, and hardly ever pay anything for speaking,
buy 5MB at £8 additional data at £1 per MB

but I suspect a bit more might be worthwile buying

    cheers Richy

    Re: Cost

Doesn't your provider have an unlimited BB plan? Thats always the best way to go. Overages can really raise the cost of the bill, real quick

i pay $124 a month on cingular but thats unlimited data for my bb and laptop modem acsess. if i did not use my bb for a wireless modem i think it would be around 65-70$ a month on a personal plan.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

You underlined "open" in reference to emails.

If the email is in your message list, it's already used data, doesn't matter if you read it or not.

If you stay off the browser, and only use email, then 5 MB would be plenty.

When I was only using email, and no surfing, I would never break 4 MB. And that was all work email AND personal email.

But browsing, and then EDGE, pushed me into the sphere of MB per day.

    thanks

To begin with I'll avoid browsing just for now, and establish a base-line
    on email alone

The opening was my naive attampt at controlling costs
    (told you i'm new)

o2 offer an unlimited IIRC at £34

but let a month pass first an d review.

I'd been using a motorola as a modem the previous month, with perhaps
    comical finan$ial results
complete with pantomime double-take at the telephone book shaped bill that just arrived through the door,
so uber-sensitive to cash just at the moment

on the plus side o2 actually refunded me £20
for the inconvinence of mucking up the commencement of my service over a week so its not all bad news

    Re: Cost

...make the change soon, if not they will charge a difference between the billing period. And the next bill will of course be much higher than normal. By your third bill it should be a 'steady' amount...

    Re: Cost

It's going to be close if you're as an avid BB surfer as I am. But I may not be the best one to say. I use my BB a lot during the day.

You're probably going to be all right, just don't surf the web too much, until you see what your usage is. Then gradually increase if you see your not using too much.

    Re: Cost

its not very easy judging the content of a given page
    or I'd risk it,

can a counter be re-set in 'status' somewhere I could use a a guide each month

    (keep it simple please)

    Re: Cost

No, there is no Data counter on the BB, but some carriers post data usage on their Online phone account. It's not always current, but it will give you an idea where you stand. I don't know if yours does or not.

    Hope this helps
