Can't get rid of the voicemail icon

I have that little head with the 2 waves after it indicating that I have a voice mail waiting. I checked, and I do not, yet the icon will not go away. This is a "locked" blackberry 8703 so I don't have access to the desktop manager. Any idea how to make the icon go away?
    thanks

Find another phone and give yourself a call; leave yourself a voicemail; access your voicemail from your 8703 and delete the one you sent yourself. That should take care of it. If that doesn't work, a cold boot should do it - pull the battery and replace it.

what do you mean by "locked" ? Desktop Manager would not help with this so you are ok. Just do like Mark said, leave yourself another voice mail and then listen to it a few minutes later from your BB. It should then send out the "message cleared" notice to your BB.
