    Blackberry Browser?

Hey guys, just got a Blackberry 8700c and am a little confused. I've read on the forum that it should have two browsers; the Cingular Browser and the Blackberry Browser, but I only have the Cingular one.

I've read through the various threads about this and tried going through Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table and there are twenty different occurances of "Cingular [XXXXXXXX]" (where the X's are numbers) with one in bold.

If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.

ewan, Go to Options/Advanced Options/Browser and check the Default Browser Configuration. What Options are there for you to set?

    Re: Blackberry Browser?

    Guys, thanks for the response!

Rcbjr: I have options for "Default browser configuration" and "Default WAP browser" which are both set to Cingular browser. If I try to change either, the only option is the Cingular Browser.

Almaft: I have the Blackberry Internet Service, but I'd rather not spend another hour and a half waiting in the Cingular store!

    Re: Blackberry Browser?

    Ok try this,

Go to Options/Advanced Options/Host Routing Table and open the Menu. Select Register Now. After you get the return Message saying that the BB is registered with the Network, do a Cold Reboot (Battery Out, wait 15-30 sec, Battery Back in).

Then check again to see if you have an option for in the Default Browser Configuration for Internet and an Internet Browser Icon on the home screen.

    hope this helps

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~true all else fails though that is probably what you would have to do but looks like rcbjr may be on the right path good luck

Log in to your Cingular BIS account from a PC and look under Options or Profile for the Button for Send Service Book and Send Internet Service Book. Click on Both of these.

    Re: Blackberry Browser?

Done. Signed on to my BIS and hit "Send Service Books". I got activation e-mails for all my e-mail accounts, read them, then tried the browser again but I'm still just getting the Cingular Browser option.

Should I try another cold reboot?

    Re: Blackberry Browser?

Might be best. That's always a good option.
Did you see the button for Internet Service Book. I'm still on BIS 1.8, so can't check mine to tell you where to look for the Second Service book button. And check you Home Screen to see if you have a new Internet Browser Icon.

    Re: Blackberry Browser?

Aha, I'm on BIS 2.0 and there is only a "Send Service Books" button.

Still no new browser option or icon.

    Really appreciate your help though!

    Re: Blackberry Browser?

Seems strange that it shouldn't come as standard.

    Any other ideas?

    Re: Blackberry Browser?

It normally does come as standard. It may be that there is something in your Blackberry data plan setting that is not correctly activated. I think you are going to need to call Cingular Customer Care, Ask for the Blackberry Device support and explain what is happening and ask them to check your account settings.

    Re: Blackberry Browser?

Your browser icons are determined by the service books pushed to your Blackberry. There's definitely something preventing you from properly receiving the service books. You will need to talk to Cingular data support and sort it out with them.
