I'm using the German version and it has been fine. Also, Opera Mini works again in the German version. I had the Chinese version before that, but did not have any issues other than Opera not working.

I also was using the chinese version with some issues. I now use the German 4.2 with great results. Good luck.

The Vodafone Germany release is doing it for me too. Only problem I have found is that clicking the wheel button in text boxes in the browser doesn't bring up any options, so you can't paste into them.

Cingular.. err.. at&t is on the cusp of releasing 4.2 for the 8700. It's been worked and approved. Now it just has to be posted for down load. I have been told that this should happen any day, now.

If you have an 8700 that keeps turning off the backlight after 5 seconds, no matter what you use for a setting, this new OS should fix it. Seeing that it's 4.2 it should add expanded audio features to the device, too.

Man I have been reading about all the bugs from people that are downloading these foreign 4.2's. I have been waiting patiently for cingular to release this so 2.3 BIS works for me. I have had some calendar reminder problems and I am hoping this will fix them.

My 8700 worked best with the Vodaphone OS. I can't think of anything that didn't work on it.
