i have the sprint os .359 i have had it for 2 weeks nowl i had the bharti .351 before...but i upgraded to the .359 its very smooth..so far so good.... if anyone can vouch for this but it seems to me that the telstra OS is the only one that i can really tell the speakerphone and earpiece microfones are much louder than all the other OS i have tried.

flash24 can you confirm if you're able to turn Data Services in Options/Network to off in the 4.2 that you're using? Many thanks.

one more question: how much does changing to a different carrier's os affect your bb's efficiency with the home network (ie if I switch to Sprint's os will it affect me on t-mobile's network)

I would say whatever is the latest O/S for your brand/carrier is the best to run. The latest versions also include the DST fix.

    Re: Best OS for 8700?

I updated my 8700c to the 4.1.0.377 O/S almost two months ago and the biggest differences I saw was that for whatever reason on the O/S I had previously I would switch back and forth between GPRS and EDGE in a certain area where there were plenty of Cingular towers, after the update I haven't seen the GPRS signal on my device yet and it's been like I said over two months since I've had it.. the other noticeable difference was the addition of the Today and Zen theme which to me is a nice addition.
