For anyone worried about the 8700 breaking, mine has fallen off the armrest and end table at least 5 times this weekend and still running fine...

Mine has fallen one, to the concrete and I'm hurtin'. She's got a booboo! BUT, I'm hoping to have another external case for it soon. In the meantime, I'm loving the freedom I have!

My 8700c is the best mobile device I've ever had, and that's after 10 years trying to get it right! I've had mobile phones, Palms, and Windows Mobile devices, and the BB is the best yet!

I'm excited to see what RIM will do next! I have my wish list and maybe I'll get some of my wishes to come true!

Having previously owned a 7100 and 7105 this is by far the best BB to date.

I'll stick to my 7100i, thank you. Besides preferring the compact keyboard and SureType (if I want QWERTY, I can always use my laptop), a compelling reason for me to buy the 7100i was the availability of Telenav. Even the cheapest stand-alone nav systems are in the $500-$600 range. At $10/month Telenav is more in my price range. I use it on average 3 or 4 times a week. Without the GPS capability of the 71xx series, I'd still be using a web-enabled cell phone and a pda. No question.

    Re: Best Blackberry Ever?

    I went from a 957 to an 8700 (had a brief foray with a 6750 that didn't go well).
I had the opportunity to choose any of the devices released between the 957 and the 8700, but the 8700 was the only one that wasn't significantly slower, dimmer, and with far worse battery life.

All the JavaOS devices prior to this are ridiculously slow in nearly every operation, short on memory, and if you get 3 days between charging the battery, you're doing well.

Mind you, the 8700 still doesn't come close to the weeks on end a 957 will go between charges, but I can usually get through a work week if I don't play too much meteor crusher.

As for the 71xx models, I really can't stand those things. For the sake of a device that's a half inch narrower, you lose the qwerty keyboard, and a screen you don't have to scroll until it hurts on, and gain the burden of predictive typing or double tapping. And up to the 7130e, they're slower than the 72xx line.

I guess if you're hooked on the GPS, Nextel's the only show in town, but the fact that it chops the already low battery life by more than half (compared to other 71xx models), I don't see any other advantage to the things.

GPS can be added to the other models with TeleNav and the correct accessories.

She means that it is difficult to hide icons that aren't being used, not lack of wallpapers, themes, ringtones, etc.

I don't have a 8700. But after reading reviews on it. I luv what it has 2 offer, the way it looks, great features & not a bad price, if u can get it from T-Mobile.

I now have a 8700G. It's totally awesome as i knew it was. The Edge technology is super great. The colors r very sharp & bright, i luv the way the keypad lay out is so well organized, the feel of it in my hands is very comfortable, & much more.

I've used a bunch of berries and the 8700 is by far the best one yet.
