    Backlight issues on 8703e

Hey all. Been having an annoying problems with my 8703e. After a couple of seconds the backlight shuts off and I have to give the device input for the screen to light up again. My default backlight time is set to 2 minutes so I'm not sure why this is happening.

I've seen this posted elsewhere here but there doesn't seem to be a resolution. One person suggested removing and re-inserting the battery. That helps temporarily but the problem always comes back.

    Any suggestions?

Could it be that you have a faulty device? I don't think this is normail... usually cold reboot fixes a lot of problems. But if that still didn't work then I suggest calling your provider so they can replace the device for you.

Ive had the same problem. I press the top left button (above the screen) and normally that turns the lights back on although sometimes it remains dim?? weird!

Lightbulb Re: Backlight issues on 8703e

I have had success using this procedure on 8700C. Pop the battery and remove the SIM. Hold the power-on button in for about 30 seconds. Then let it sit for about 5 minutes.
I know it may sound silly to do all these things but it clears any residual power or memory. When it is put back together, it behaves normally.

    Hope this helps you.

Thumbs up Re: Backlight issues on 8703e

I had the same problem on my 8703e.

I got the following solution from crackberry.com 87xx forum.

    Click Options icon
    Click Screen/Keyboard
Click Trackwheel and Screen/Keyboard options will appear
Scroll down to the Automatic Backlight option (word "On" should be highlighted in right column)
Click Trackwheel and select Change Option and select "Off"
Click the Trackwheel and select Save and click the Trackwheel
    Go back to the desktop

When the Automatic Backlight option is enabled, your BB senses how bright the light in the room is and adjusts the brightness accordingly.

PS 8703e does not have a SIM card

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I think you should try what pcastric said. It could just be your auto backlight.
