Anyone want to trade me their 8700C for my 8700G?

I have an 8700G and my employer will not let me use it on the company's BIS. (I a municipal worker for a major City) My employer has an exclusive contract with Cingular and can get sued for putting a T-Mobile device on the City's network.

I would like to trade for a 8700C. I have the box and everything that came with the 8700G.

I live in Philadelphia and would prefer a local trade.

Send me a PM or an e-mail to rbone100 at yahoo dot com.

    Thanks for looking!

How come you can't buy an 8700c and use it as your work BB and the 8700g as the personal BB?

I only want to carry one BB. My work pays for my service but they are exclusive to Cingular only.

They will pay the bill, but not provide the hardware?

I would get it unlocked and use it with the network.

I'm with Erica. If they're saying they could get sued they're feeding you a line of bull. If the device is unlocked a provider shouldn't care, because they in essence took a customer away from the other provider.

They gave me a 7290 to use. I want an 8700 and they will not pay for that.

Use the 7290 for work and keep your 8700 for personal use. That's what you're going to have to do if they won't budge. It also keeps your personal BB from having IT policies and restrictions on it.

It sounds like they're confused or else the city negotiated a really poor contract (not really surprising). From a practical standpoint, the BES server doesn't care what carrier's device you associate with your BES account. However, from a keeping-your-job standpoint I wouldn't mess around with trying to bypass your employer's policies.

I say just get a 8700c housing so they 'think' it's a Cingular phone You may still need to get it unlocked for that though.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ have the 8700 unlocked. Take the SIM out of the 7290 and place it in the 8700.

Cingular does not care where the device came from. They are a GSM wireless Service provider. They make money on the service not the equipment.

My employer called me and asked why I have put on my 7100T (Unlocked) onto their system. They knew I had put a T-Mobile device on the BES. That's when I decided to get the 8700C and be done with it.

Give the guy a break, it sounds like he's just trying to make the best of a clearly tough situation.

If I had the right device I'd be inclined to help you out. But I have a 7105t and that won't work for you.

I think the unlocking suggestion is the best. I don't know much about BES, but I don't know that they could tell it was a t-mobile deive? Maybe there's something tied to the original number that gives it away.

Maybe hit up eBay for a cheap 8700 you can use and then sell yours. You take a hit in the wallet intially, but should be able to recoup the cost.

Good luck. Hopefully it will work out.
