Did you try to get it from the mobile blackberry site? Also, if you don't mind spending a few bucks you can try giving JiveTalk a try.. They have a free trial. Good luck! ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

I downloaded aim from the blackberry site. It appeared in my application list and ith icon on my screen. When I tried to access it, I received the message, "service not enabled for this handheld!"

I looked at the yahoo, msn, and icq configurations and they all downloaded and worked. They were identical to aims, but aim doesn't work.

I called t-mobile and the only resonse I got was, "I was operating an illegal system" (I upgraded to 4.5 via orange).

The question the t-mobile/blackberry geek couldn't answer was "if icq doqnloads and works, why would'nt aim, since aim owns icq?"

Icq, yahoo, man show up in my service books, but not aim.

Hello, is there anybody out there???

Yeah who knows the blackberry aim client is stupid. Jivetalk is pretty decent though and if you wanted free you could go with something like Ramble.
    Blackberry rocks my world....

Yeah, the AIM that you can download for 8700g off the bb website won't work on this handheld.
Actually, MOST AIM services (whether they're free or a free trial) won't work on the 8700g.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention this here, but i'll give it a shot:
I actually got Beejive from some guy that works for RIM I think he said. He gave me the serial number after I downloaded the free trial.
It worked. I hope I don't get in trouble for saying that -.-

But yeah, Beejive(JiveTalk) was the ONLY service that actually worked on mine. And i'm not gonna lie, It would be worth the money. I loved it.
