8703e Outlook Sync - Local vs Enterprise

Help for a newbie!!! I've never had a BB but am SERIOUSLY considering an 8703e through current provider (Verizon) - should in the next couple days, I'm pschyed!!! Right now I use a cell phone and Palm that syncs with Outlook on my laptop.

I believe that the BB will pull down emails through my employer's Exchange server, so I'll have the same view of my messages as when I log into my webmail on my company's intranet?

Problem:I use my laptop to pull all my emails in locally, so I can store messages in folders and create appt's and tasks in my Outlook calendar. Then I sync it with my Palm. My Outlook.pst folder is always over a gig of data, and I can only keep about 20MB of data on my webmail server.

Is there a way I can view my emails on my exchange server, but still sync my contacts and calendar with my local Outlook app?

    Welcome SimBone.

I believe that Outlook allows you to tell it what you sync with the server.

Outlook? Really? I would have assumed/hoped that the BB desktop software allows you to choose what you can sync.

For example, synching Calendar and Contacts locally, then email through the exchange server?

Thanks for all your help eveyone!!!

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ you could set it up to push your email, and sync with just contacts/calendar

Well, technically via your company's BES server. The view depends on how you have you Blackberry configured but, yes, you can set it to have the same email on your Blackberry and your Exchange mailbox. I have mine set up separately but you can choose.

Yup. Just be careful and choose the BIS option when you're installing Desktop Manager on your laptop or else you'll break your mail delivery every time you sync to your laptop.
