    8703e Bluetooth Connection Issues

I have used the search and found similar threads, but cannot resolve the issue I am experiencing:

I recently reinstalled my Toshiba Bluetooth stack on my Dell Inspiron 9300 with the Dell 350 Bluetooth device built-in. I did this to insure my new Targus Laser Bluetooth mouse would work properly, and it does work flawlessly.

I paired my Verizon 8703e with the computer and it is listed in the computer's bluetooth menu confirming this, BUT the BB Device Manager (v4.1.1.11) will not recognize the BB for a connection. I am getting sick of connecting it via USB every day just to update contacts and calender from Outlook. It even asked for my PIN on the BB and the bluetooth connection menu, which I entered to pair the device.

What can I do to get this to work?? Please help me!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. BUT, the 8703e does not support sync via bluetooth. It'll let you connect up to anything via bluetooth. But, once connected... there's nothing it can do.

You need OS 4.2 in order to do a BT synch which is not available yet for 8703e
I'm french canadian so I can also help you in french, just PM me
UNLESS it is for a BETA OS, it's at your own risk and I won't support it

    Re: 8703e Bluetooth Connection Issues

If you have not resolved this yet, there is hope. I have a Dell XPS M140 and suffered for months trying to make it all work. I also use an 8703e from Verizon. You have to first remove the Toshiba Blue tooth (.sys) & (.inf) files, then remove the stack. Follow the procedures below. It might take you a few trys to get it all working, but it will. I recommend setting a restore point so if it doesn't work the first time, you can go back and try it again. I did these same things, in the same order about 4 times before it worked. After you get the Native Microsoft drivers installed, you should be able to pair up with the BB.

To remove the Toshiba Bluetooth® files, perform the following steps.
    Click the Start button.
    1. Click My Computer on the right-hand column of the Start Menu.
    2. Double-click Local Disk
      The Local Disk window opens.
    3. Click Tools on the menu bar, then click Folder Options.
    4. Use the scroll bar on the right-hand side and scroll down until you can clearly see the Hidden files and folders section.
    5. Click the button next to Show hidden files and folders.
    6. Click to uncheck the box next to Hide extensions for known file types.
    7. Click Apply.
    8. Click OK.
      The Folder Options window closes.
    9. Double-click the Windows folder.
    10. Double-click the System32 folder.
    11. Right-click each file shown in Table 1 below, then click Delete.
    12. Click YES to confirm the deletion.

      tosbtsd2.sys
      tosporte.sys
      tosrfcom.sys
      tosrflan.sys
      tosRfSnd.sys
      tosdbt.sys
      tosRfbd.sys
      tosrfec.sys
      tosrfnds.sys
      tosrfusb.sys
      toshidpt.sys
      tosrfbnp.sys
      tosRfhid.sys
Table 1: Toshiba files to delete in the System32 folder
    13. Note: You may not have every one of these files installed.
    14. Click Back on the navigation bar.
    15. Double-click the INF folder.
    16. Right-click each file in Table 2 below, then click Delete.
    17. Click YES to confirm the deletion.

      tosbtsd2.inf
      tosporte.inf
      tosrfcom.inf
      tosrflan.inf
      tosRfSnd.inf
      tosdbt.inf
      tosRfbd.inf
      tosrfec.inf
      tosrfnds.inf
      tosrfusb.inf
      toshidpt.inf
      tosrfbnp.inf
      tosRfhid.inf
Table 2: Toshiba Files to delete in the INF folder
Note: You may not have every one of these files installed.
    18. Locate the file named BTH.inf or BTH.bak.
      • When the file name is BTH.bak, right-click the file, click Rename. Rename the file BTH.inf.
      • If the file name is BTH.inf, do not change the name.

    19. Click the red X in the upper right-hand corner to close the INF folderwindow.

» Remove the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack Software

To remove the Toshiba Bluetooth stack software:
      1. Click Start.
      2. Click Control Panel on the right-hand column of the Start Menu to open the Control Panel window.
      3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs to open the Add/Remove Programs window.
      4. Click Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba.
      5. Click Remove.
      6. Click Yes to confirm deletion.
      7. When a message box opens, asking: "Are you sure to want to delete all your Bluetooth connection settings? You will need to re-pair to all devices after installing a new software stack," click Yes to confirm removal of the Toshiba Bluetooth software.
      8. When the process has finished, click the red X in the upper right-hand corner of the Add/Remove window.
      9. Click Start, then click Turn off Computer to open the Turn of Computer window.
      10. Click Restart.

    Re: 8703e Bluetooth Connection Issues

By the way, I know you said that you recently reinstalled the Toshiba software, but the only way to make the BB work is to use the native Windows software. You should be able to get drivers for any other devices from the respective manufacturers so that they will work with the Native Windows software.
