Just curious, what is the difference between the 8700g and the 8703c. They look identical, do they have different capabilities? Is one better than the other? Just curious.

MuddyGround, Go the the BlackBerry Handheld Comparison site and select the 8700g and the 8703e then compare for your self.

    Re: 8703c vs 8700g

main difference is that the 8700g runs on gsm/edge networks where the 8703e runs on cdma/evdo networks.

the GSM versions have better battery life and intel processors. the cdma versions offer faster browsing speeds

Not quite. GPS is included in the 8703e and not in the 8700g. Use the device comparison feature on the BB site -- that's what it's for.

Give a damn about GPS mate, don't really need to know the exact location of anyone but myself or my wife. People want to talk to me they know where to find me. So as we said in the previous post there really is no difference between the two, thanks boys and girls.

Conversely, the Qualcomm CPU in the 8703e is slower than the Intel chip in the 8700g.
It's not perceptible to most people, but when you handle dozens of devices a day, it's rather obvious.
It doesn't record video. Get over it.

seems my 8700g on edge with my intel 312 mz processor is way faster than my girls 8703 on evdo..........she agrees...the network can be as fast as you want but if your berry cant process the info...does it really matter?

try loading up a page like ebay.com on the opera browser on an 8700g and an 8703e and you will see the evdo network shine.

i guess the qualcomm chipset also adds .1 grams to the weight haha, pretty negligible too.

That's exactly what GPS is for.

    ...and sorry, you asked:

"Just curious, what is the difference between the 8700g and the 8703c."

    Not

No, they're similar but not the same in the way that the 8700c and 8700r are the same.

    Re: 8703c vs 8700g

Ha ha, well I didn't mean to upset anyone. I just meant that I don't need to know where anyone is if they don't answer their phone. My wife doesn't have a blackberry and neither do most of my friends so it really is of no use to me to have GPS. And yeah I play some open mic's out of town when not playing with SM. And to be honest I don't really want anyone to be able to keep that close a watch on me with that GPS thing.
