    8700r LCD Blackout time

    Hi,

My company just provided me with a brand new 8700r from Rogers. It is working wonderfully except for the fact that the LCD screen blacks-out automatically after 5 seconds to preserve battery life.

That is really annoying since I need to keep on playing with the trackwheel if I want to read a long e-mail without the screen going black on me.

As anyone found a way to change the duration the LCD stays lit or to turn this feature off completely? Battery life is not a problem for me since the BB is plugged at all times I am in office so rarely goes under 40% power remaining (mostly when coming back on Mondays).

    Thanks in advance.

BBLIGHT I think will do that...OR

    Options
    Screen/Keyboard
    Scroll down to Backlight Timeout
    Change
    Save

    Done

    Re: 8700r LCD Blackout time

    Thanks N8DBB.

I already knew of this and probably did not phrase my question correctly.

I used to have an old 6280 model and the screen remained ON all the time, with a backlight coming on when it was used.

My 8700r dims a bit after 5 seconds then turns off after 10 seconds (as I had set the backlight feature to 10 sec.). I was wondering if it would be possible to have it stay dim all the time (maximum is 2 minutes in the option menu) unless used instead of turning the LCD completely OFF.

Hi strauclair. Let me understand this better, you want the screen to be dim all the time, as it is right before it shuts off completely?

This can be achieved by going to options, screen/keyboard, scroll down to backlight brightness and reduce it to about 50%.

Let us know if that helps.
