One of the versions will have a camera, but you won't see it for 3 mos., later.

I had a pearl for a few days, i returned it and got the 8700 way better phone. The interface, and the internet seem to be a lot quicker as well.

    Re: 8700g vs 8100

I have both the 8700r and the 8100.

8700 - Excellent for email and business oriented functions and no sure type.

8100 - Excellent for multimedia, it's sleeker it your pocket

8800 - Is essentially a cross between the 8700 and the 8100. It has the same interface as the 8100 (identical actually) but has the full keyboard and the widescreen like the 8700 (a very nice device)

    - The camera is coming soon but will not be with the 8800

I bought the pearl when it came out but after a while I became tired of the small screen and no qwerty so I went with the 8700g

What do you mean by "performance"? It's not like you can compare their 0-60 or 1/4 mile times... :P

As with anything there's no simple "better". What are your needs? What matters to you? I can't stand SureType so the 8100's irrelevant to me. YMMV.
