Question 8700c Won't Boot (search no help)

Ok I'm running vista x64 with Desktop Software v4.2 SP2 (English) and 8700M_PBr4.2.1_rel155_PL2.3.0.79_A4.2.1.96_ATT. I lost my phone for about a week and when I found it there was no life lift in it. I took it home and charged it for a few hours and when I came back to it the red LED was flashing 5 times "blink blink blink blink.....blink" repeatedly. I tired to hook it up to my computer and I couldn't get it to recognise. I refreshed the device manager and everything else. Tried taking the battery out and still a no go. I tried jl-cmdr but it doesn't work with 64x windows. It doesn't matter what I do, when ever the battery is installed, the flashing pattern is the same. All out of ideas and any help would be great!
    thanks,
    Justin

You need to get to a windows XP machine so that you can do a full wipe on the phone with JLCommander. Once you get it wiped, then it should power up and give you a 507 error. Once you have the 507 error on your screen it should reload just fine.

Did it ever power back up and give you a completely blank white screen with a picture of a blackberry in the middle, a circle with a line through it around the blackberry, and a 507 error?

I'm thinking that the flash pattern is something significant? Most people get 2 blinks, I'm getting 5.

I can't get it to do anything except blink red.

Not 5. I have seen 3 and it was solved through a wipe and reinstall.

Did you ever get a 507 error code on the screen after running JLCommander to wipe it?

You may have a hardware failure then. If it was wiped by JLCommander successfully, then it will power back up but give you a 507 error code because the operating system is gone.

Yea that's about the worst that can happen really not looking forward to replacing it. I'm noticing that the battery isn't taking too good of a charge. on the battery the outer pins are the "=" and "-" terminals what are the inner two also what are the other two pins that are next to them by them selves? Do you know of any way to find out what the flash codes are for these phones?

Did you ever find a solution to this?

I'm trying to figure out what the flashing message means but in every thread I find about it an answer is never provided by anyone? I'm thinking the phone is toast when it gives this blinking sequence. One post did say the rom is fried, but I just want to hear it from a blackberry expert that is familiar with the flash sequence and can confirm it.

No one that I have seen knows exactly what the flashing LED signify's exactly other than a "toasted" phone. In my experience, 3 flashes usually means a unit with a critical failure that will require chip replacement. Exactly what chip, I have no idea.
