    Question 8700c mic not working

    For starters, hello.

My 8700c is 1 week old today, and is having some problems. For some reason, after lunch today, the mic on the phone is not working. It can still transmit data (if I hit number keys it makes the beep on the other phone), but when I speak into the microphone, standard or speakerphone modes, on the handset, nothing is going through.

I checked to make sure that 'mute' wasn't selected, and it wasn't, and I don't know of anything that would cause this other than a hardware defect... anyone have any ideas on how to fix this before I haul it into the store and ask for a new one? Thanks.

If you connect a wired headset to it, can they hear you?

Yes they can. I wound up taking it back to Cingular and getting a replacement.
