I have two Icons that appear on the home screen, I have the bluetooth options icon, and the Bluetooth enable/disable icon. When it's working (which is very rare...), there is a third icon that appears underneath the time when it's enabled.

Typically, I would tell the phone to add a bluetooth device and it would pop up with the message box stating that it's "enabling bluetooth" and it'll just sit there for a short period of time. Next, the message box dissappears, and it still says that bluetooth is disabled at the top of the screen.

If I ONLY click on enable bluetooth, in the options screen, then it will just close the menu, and return to the bluetooth options screen and say that bluetooth is disabled...without even trying to enable the bluetooth.

    I know, it's sad....

Ok. Do this... Press Alt L,G,L,G on the mainscreen to access the logs and clear the logs.

Next action go to bluetooth and enable bluetooth and till it dissappears dont do anything else

Now access the logs and copy paste the events and send em to me....

    Only the bluetooth events

Do me another favour and match these Module Settings

Go to Options>Advanced Options>Applications> In Applications Click to open a menu which says View Properties and Modules down in the middle. Click on modules and click inside on any module and edit default permissions.

    you will see
    Connections
    Interactions
    User Data

    Expand these
and set them as mine are set
    USB - Allow
    Bluetooth - Allow
    phone - Prompt
    loc(GPS) - Prompt
    comp Network - Prompt
    carrier internet - Prompt
    ---------------------------
    Interprocess communications- Allow
    Device Settings- Allow
    Module Management- Allow
    key stroke - deny
    browser filters-deny
    theme data-allow
    security timer - deny
    -----------------------
    all user data to allow

    Then give it a shot...

I changed the settings to match, it restarted... I tried it again...and still nothing.

    Also, the log is a net.rim.bluetooth.hf - CLUP vs. a net.rim.bluetooth - CLUP

Not sure if it makes a difference.

I'm not sure what you are looking for as far as what apps I've got, but I don't have any extra apps, other than the ones that come with the OS. Also, I don't know how to check to see if I have any apps playing in the background...but I've done these test directly after a startup, so I don't *think* there is anything going on.

    THANKS!!!!

Well, my case is now broken so my battery likes to fall out on it's own..... I'll have an 8900 here on Tuesday

Thank you so much for the help on this one. If you are determined to fix it, I still have the 8700 and am willing to continue to try and fix it....otherwise, THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!!!
