    8700 Wont Boot/Power Up

I have recently received a used 8700G (T-Mobile) Blackberry and when I attempt to power on, the LED will turn red for about 2 seconds, and then the screen will just show a Battery Symbol with a Red line through it. I have ensured the battery is fully charged (via my other blackberry) and have also connected to the wall charger, but these steps made no difference. The only screen I see is the battery in the middle of the screen with the Red line through it.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried the hard reset, but to no avail.

    Please help!!!!

    ~Roger

YOu need to plug it into the wall charger and let it sit for about 30 minutes.

The battery is beyond dead, indicating that it has either:

    A: Gone bad
B: Was left on in a box a long long time ago and drained all the life out of it.

If after 30 minutes its the same thing, then get a new battery.

Once you get a new battery, put it in, plug it in, and make sure it's pulling a charge and your USB isn't shot.

Actually, take the battery out and plug it into the wall charger...if the redlight comes on, the USB should be fine and it's the battery thats jacked.

Nevermind...another case of me not reading thoroughly.

Maybe want to try and OS reinstall and see if that doesn't help.

Either that or check the battery connectors in the back.

Do you have a diff battery you can throw in it?

    Re: 8700 Wont Boot/Power Up

No other battery to try.... however I konw the battery is good because it was 'borrowed' from my current blackberry. In addition, I plugged the BB into the wall charger (without the battery installed) and received the same screen.

I am thinking that this BB is dead, but I am not sure how to tell.

I would try to reload the OS, but if the system wont boot at all, that most likely isn't going to happen.

Any other thoughts on this, besides converting to a paper weight?

I got a used 8700c BB as well and when I tried to charge the battery for the first time I'm getting the same thing. It wasn't given to me with any OS cds or software - I was told I could just put my sim card in it, charge and use straight away. It's the first time I've owned one. Was so excited to get started and now this - Help!

this also happened to me when i upgraded to my 8700. You need to get the actual battery that goes with the blackberry. If you use one from another model it wont work. You can get this battery from tmobile under cell phone accersories
