Is it possible to extend the ring time on the 8700? For example my sample is cut in half (its about a 30s ringtone).

    Thanks.

Welcome to pinstack. In your profiles check to see your "number of beeps", see if its set to "1".

Great. Thanks. However when I tried changing from 1 to 3 I didnt notice a difference. Seems to cut-off arount the same point - 15s. Using an 30s mp3 sample if that makes a difference.

    Thanks.

Is this the case with all ringers you have on your BB? Keep it set to "1" to have the entire ringer play. Try tunes from mobile41.com and see what happens.

Tried another mp3 ringtone and got the same thing. 15second cutoff. Could this be something set by my work?

    Re: 8700 ring length?

According to this thread ( cant link due toe stack rating - its the Cingular forums) you can change it yourself to 30s as 15s is the default. Any ideas what the process would be for Australia? Will call my carrier tomorrow though. But I expect them to be totally useless:

You can change the amount of time it rings up to 30 seconds (start with the query to see what the current setting is:
    No Answer
Delay nn seconds: max 30 seconds, in 5 second increments
    Set: **61*destination*nn#[SEND]
    Cancel: ##61#[SEND]
    Query: *#61#[SEND]

    80kps and 22050hz
Truthfully, doesnt have to be that setting. I think maybe you need to increase the actual ringtime through your carrier, and the example you gave up there solomani does just that, but Im not sure if for your carrier.

Let us know how it goes.

*61 should work for any GSM carrier. You do need to know the number for your voicemail center. Max ringtime is 30 seconds so:

Rings = Ring Time / Ringtone Length

    Re: 8700 ring length?

Try this, it works on a 7100

    Enter
    61*121*10*030#
    Call

If the procedure is successful, the handset should return the following message after a short delay:

    Registration of Call
    Forwarding No Reply:
    Telephony returned success

This will extend the ring time to the maximum of 30s, if you wish to use a shorter time, you may substitute the 030 for 010, 015, 020, 025 for 10, 20, or 25 seconds respectively. Nb. Only multiples of 5 between 10 and 30 seconds are available.

    Bon apetit
