    8700 repair advice

I am new to this forum and am looking for guidance on a BB 8700 from a repair standpoint. A friend dropped his in a lake. After drying it out, it seemed to work fine. Then, a few days later, it would just buzz (vibrate). He took the plunge a bought another unit, since he needed it for work. I told him I would take a look at the "wet"one. I took it apart and removed enough sand to make my own private beach. What I was wondering, since I have it apart, are there any reset buttons or anything on the circuit board I should reset or anything?

    Thanks,

    Brian

Don't think there are any buttons on the board itself. I've had a few 8700s open and never saw anything.

Thumbs down Re: 8700 repair advice

I now have the 8700 back together. I cleaned out all the sand I could find - nothing looked fried. However, when I try to start the unit up I get nothing. I tested the battery and it has 3.1 volts, which I would think would be sufficient for the unit to power up. Any suggestions for what I might try to bring it back to life?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to Pinstack timestar!

Sorry to hear about your friends issue with the device... However with the water probem and it being soaked to the chips, there really isn't anything left to do. ONce it's soaked into the phone, it's a dud...
