    8700 light sensor

One of the nice features of the 8700 is that it's got an ambiant light sensor that controls the intensity of the LCD screen in different light situations.
Does anyone know where that sensor is?
I bought a cheap rubberized case off of eBay and I like it but it seems to be covering up the light sensor. My LCD is always on the lowest setting when I have the case on.
I want to cut that area of the case away so that the sensor is exposed to the actaul light conditions and not getting a false reading because it's covered by the case.
    Just curious thanks!

Yeah, the brightness button at the top is what i've been using when i need to brighten it up. Usually, with out the case, the 8700's light sensor gets it right and i don't have to use the button. With the case on it's not as accurate.
Thanks! still looking for the light sensor.

Most of the keyboard is exposed on this case.
I think it might be behind the speaker on the front or the LED light that blinks
it could also be around the screen perimiter

Hahaha I was curious to find out where it was too.

After like 100 tries, it turned out to be the L.E.D. itself, I placed my pinky on it making sure I didnt block anything else, and after 3-4 seconds the backlight wasnt as bright anymore =)

I suggest you make the cut around the L.E.D. just a little bigger all around.

    Hope this helps..
