Your welcome kimbo! EDGE is like EVDO, highspeed broadband internet. Its amazing compared to regular internet browsing.

    Re: 8700 EDGE

i understand the latest EDGE-capable BB devices are 7130 and 8700. if there's no EDGE network in the area, will it automatically switch to GPRS network? are there any obvious differences in terms of incoming and sending emails in the BB unit between two types of networks? or is it just on the internet connection?

i'm contemplating of upgrading my BB 7100 to either of the above-mentioned devices. any help would be greatly appreciated.

it is just the conntction speed it will not effect the device at all. it is the same if you got your hands on a UMTS device. they all can revert to slower speeds with no problem depending on what network u are in, and it does not effect what u are doing on your device. so if u would like a newer device go for it... the new devices are awsome
    Thanks...

I agree! I love my 8700, the newer devices are much better. Used to have BB with GPRS and the difference with my 8700's EDGE is incredible!
