Hello, I just received an 8700 after losing my pearl. By audio support, does this mean it will play MP3's?

T-Mobile had the 4.2 upgrade for awhile, but apparently it caused audio issues like it did on mine. They put the 4.1 software back up on their upgrade website if you want to go back to it.

To my knowledge, the 8700 (no matter what OS) is not capable of being an mp3 player, unless you only want to have 4 or 5 songs on the phone - but it will play them, there is just no expandable memory.

to download the software, follow the instructions from your carrier's website. i know Tmo's is pretty well detailed....

I just wish I could send the voicenotes. I havent fingured that out. Also, when surfing the web, I get seem to get a lockup and the hourglass just blinking. I have remove my battery. It seems to happen most on shockwave/heavy java sites (whereas I used to just get an error). This is on a Tmo 8700g

Also, as a plus for 4.2, the alarm now works when IN the holster. It used to not work unless it was out. I learned this quickly on a business trip where i was glad I set the hotel alarm clock.

Re: 8700 4.2 Upgrade- WAS IT WORTH IT??

I have an 8700c and was initially pleased with the update. Unfortuanlely, DM worked only briefly following update. If I try to use DM I get an install problem:

"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.
Insert the 'BlackBerry v4.2.1 for the 8700 Series Wireless Handheld' disk and click OK
    Use Source:
    1"

I don't have a disk and can't figure out how to get rid of the message or get DM to run. Have tried uninstalling software, reinstalling, running repair and won't clear problem.

Question Re: 8700 4.2 Upgrade- WAS IT WORTH IT??

Anyone upgraded their 8707g with 4.2 ? I've upgraded it and noticed the following:
    i. Battery Drains out fast
ii. Exceptionally laggin when receiving call and performing any tasks even activate speaker fone during a conversation.
    iii. Slow response

    Fyi, i'm using the v4.2.1.94

Anyone else has successfully got theirs to work and perform the same (or better) ?
